Lewis Dobbin spotted wearing new training gear despite no official Aston Villa announcement - opinion

Aston Villa seem to be the talk of the town right now as the 2024 summer transfer window gathers pace.

Yes, Euro 2024 is taking centre stage in Germany and quite a lot of deals will probably start to explode once the tournament is over.

But Aston Villa have already confirmed two deals – Lewis Dobbin has signed from Everton, whilst midfielder Tim Iroegbunam moved in the other direction.

Plenty more deals are in the pipeline. The big one, Douglas Luiz is expected to join Juventus, with Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea moving to Villa Park.

And then there is also the small matter of Ian Maatsen signing from Chelsea, don’t forget Ross Barkley arriving from Luton Town and Omari Kellyman is making a shock transfer to Stamford Bridge.

A lot of deals are expected to conclude in these coming weeks, but when Dobbin was signed, sealed and delivered, fans noticed something very interesting.

Aston Villa’s new kit and training gear

Most clubs have already launched their new kits and training gear for the new season. Some even did it during the final few weeks of last season.

But Villa are yet to officially do it and it is expected to happen in the middle of July. Adidas is now the club’s new sponsor after the nightmare of Castore.

Not forgetting that the new badge, yes for probably the umpteenth time, is also getting paraded around ahead of the club’s 150th anniversary.

Everyone is excited to see how everything will look, but fans got a small glimpse when Dobbin was announced as a new player.

The new Villa forward was strapping a green training top, with the Adidas logo and the new badge in full view.

Fans might get to see more of this in the coming weeks as new players arrive, especially for the likes of Barkley, Iling-Junior and Barrenechea.

They aren’t on national duty, so would probably be able to visit Villa’s training ground to do the usual media work.

Maatsen is still on Netherlands duty at Euro 2024, so you probably won’t hear from him until after the tournament is finished.
