'Unbelievable': Jeremy Doku suggests £90k-a-week Man City target is the best player at Euro 2024 so far

Jeremy Doku has hailed a player Manchester City are thought to be targeting.

The winger has given a very good account of himself so far at Euro 2024, having featured in both of Belgium’s first two games.

Belgium did lose their opener against Slovenia, but bounced back by beating Romania 2-0 with a great performance.

Doku has been a real livewire, which is bound to please Pep Guardiola, who has likely been keeping a close eye on the tournament.

And if he has been watching, then it’s very possible he will have been impressed by Jamal Musialaa player thought to be on City’s transfer radar.

One who definitely likes what he’s seen of the German though is City winger Doku.

Bayern Munich ace Musiala has been one of the stars of the tournament so far.

The 21-year-old has been pivotal in helping Germany top their group, and the attacking midfielder has impressed fans of all nations with his dynamism and technical quality.

Musiala recently finished his fourth season as a regular first-teamer at Bayern, and shone by scoring 12 goals and making eight assists in 38 appearances.

His great form has continued at the Euros – and his first few performances have left City winger Doku dazzled.

When asked about the best player at the tournament so far, he was quoted by Bild as saying: “I prefer to watch Jamal Musiala at this European Championship. It’s unbelievable what he can do on the ball. I really enjoy that.

“I still have work to do to get on the same list as Musiala or Bellingham. And if someone puts me on it, then it’s a big compliment.”

What a talent

Musiala has been a joy to watch at Euro 2024 so far and you would be hard pressed to find a City fan who wouldn’t want to see him wearing sky blue next season.

Musiala is so elegant and efficient when he has the ball, and it’s hard to imagine him not thriving in a Pep team. Ilkay Gundogan said last week that he thinks Musiala can become one of the best players in the world in his position.

The £90,000-a-week star’s versatility allows him to shine in most areas of the pitch, and we all know how much Pep loves versatile players.

It would be amazing if City made a move for him, although there arguably isn’t too much of a pressing need right now. It would make more sense if someone like Matheus Nunes or Bernardo Silva were to leave.

But certainly, many will share the thoughts of Doku about Musiala, and hopefully, we’ll see them linking up someday.
