Venture capitalist supporting Trump gets smacked down again

Pro-Trump venture capitalist David Sacks is getting called out again by former GOP Congressman Joe Walsh after he blasted CNN on social media ahead of Thursday’s debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.

Sacks joined the chorus on the right who are now critical of the fact CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will moderate the event. The pro-Trump voices say the two won’t be fair to the former president, despite Trump already having agreed to the terms of the debate — including that the first one would be hosted by CNN.

“Oh quit being such a snowflake. And quit making Trump out to always be such a poor little victim who has everything rigged against him. @jaketapper & @DanaBashCNN are pros. They’re both tough, fair & objective journalists who’ll do a stand up job. Grow up.” Walsh posted to X in response to Sacks saying, “Donald Trump’s real debate opponent on Thursday will be CNN.”

Walsh is a former conservative Illinois congressman who was popular with the Tea Party movement. He’s since broke with the party over its allegiance to Trump.

He’s gone after Sacks in the past over the war in Ukraine after Sacks said U.S. troops shouldn’t be on the ground in the conflict.

Trump and his allies over the weekend have rolled back comments about Biden over the years accusing him of being senile or having dementia.

“This guy has got the ability,” North Dakota’s Doug Burgum said on CNN over the weekend. “When he needs to he can step up.”

CNN’s Kaitlin Collins noted Burgum has called Biden “infirm” and pressed the possible Trump vice presidential pick whether it was a mistake to paint such a bleak picture of the incumbent.

“Well, I don’t know if it was a mistake or not. I think ... America sort of looks at the State of the State. He stood up and he spoke strongly for over an hour, Burgum said.

Texas Congressman Ronny Jackson, who worked as a top White House physician under Barack Obama and Trump, echoed calls by some for Biden to submit to a drug test ahead of the debate to make sure Biden isn’t using “performance-enhancing drugs.”
