Deion Sanders has one year working in a power conference under his belt after his debut season at Colorado. Now, going into his second one with the Buffs, he already knows exactly what he wants do do different as their head coach.
Joel Klatt closed his interview with Sanders on ‘Big Noon Conversations’ by asking him what he may want to differently this fall. His answer was to make more decisive decisions based on what he already understands.
“I’ve got to act on what I feel and I’ve got to act on what I know,” Sanders said.
For example, Sanders noted how he may have let some aspects of his team play out over time previously. However, based on what he knows and what he has learned from other coaches and colleagues, Coach Prime needs to be more conclusive with his calls.
“It’s like you see some things, you feel some things – and I’m a nice guy so I give it a chance to materialize and for it to come to pass. Then I call my support guys around the country – you know, Coach Saban and some of the other guys that I don’t want to mention. But they give me so much love and advice,” said Sanders. “I’ve got to act on it.”
Had he done that last season, Sanders thinks it might have played out in another way rather than their finish at 4-8.
“I got to act on it. If I were acting on it, things might have been a lot different. But I didn’t,” Sanders said.
Sanders still has lessons to learn heading into his fifth season coaching at the collegiate level. Still, if there’s one that he’s certainly going to apply this fall, assertiveness in his choices from what he knows will be it.

Deion Sanders isn’t going anywhere.
In an interview with FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt, the Colorado head coach addressed his future after his sons, Shedeur and Shilo, move on from the program.
“I’m a leader of men, not a follower of men. I’m a father, not a baby daddy. I lead my sons. I don’t follow my sons,” Sanders said. “My sons, Travis (Hunter) included, are getting ready to migrate to the NFL. I’m not following them to the NFL.”
“I paved the way for my babies. They’re not paving the way for me. So, I plan on being here and being dominant here because they’re establishing something that we’re going to continue to build on for years to come. And I’m thankful that they’re establishing what they’re establishing.”
