Michigan Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore is finally starting to settle into his new coaching position in the program. Last season, Moore was the Wolverines offensive coordinator and acting head coach during Jim Harbaugh‘s suspensions. Now, heading into the 2024 campaign, he is the man running the show.

Moore’s head coaching tenure has had an interesting first few months. During the SMSB National College showcase, the Michigan headman shared his thoughts on his first few months on the job.

“It’s been fun; it’s been outstanding; it’s been awesome,” said Moore. “[I] wouldn’t take any moment away. You learn from everything. And I’m just I’m embracing every day like never take a day for granted.”

“I go into Schembechler Hall every single day, and it’s the best day ever. That’s my mindset. I’m just so stoked and happy to be a part of the program. Yeah, I’m leading, but I’m a part of this thing, and it’s bigger than me, so I’m just happy to be a part of this program.”

Moore has had to deal with a number of things both on and off the field that are not necessarily exclusive to just Michigan. Still, it appears as if he is taking everything in stride and is looking at everything positively. Furthermore, he is appreciative to be a part of the program which she cares deeply about.

Moore feels equally as confident in Michigan this year compared to last

Moore also discussed the differences between this year’s team heading into the summer and last year’s, revealing whether he has confidence in the 2024 roster.

“I feel the same way as I do now about the team that we had last year,” said Moore. “You go into summer; you go into training camp (and) you put your head down and work. Your goal is always to do that. Are you gonna win a national championship every year? You hope so.”

“Our goal is to just win every game. And we’re gonna try to do that every single way possible and go through the process of doing that. So we’re not gonna look forward, look at what games here, what’s in this game, win this game; we’re just going to take it day by day. You can only take one step in front of the other… we gotta take a step at a time.”

Outside of replacing Harbaugh, Michigan also lost two key weapons from its national championship-winning offense: star quarterback JJ McCarthy and 2023 Heisman front-runner running back Blake Corum.
