In the last 10 days, Gaffney (S.C.) class of 2025 four-star OL Shed Sarratt has announced a commitment to South Carolina, worked out for the staff at their OL/DL camp, and taken his official visit to the school, wrapping up a whirlwind week and a half for the future Gamecock on Sunday.
“I would say everything about the visit stood out, especially the food and how the players — I feel like we already have a tight bond,” Sarratt said Sunday after his official visit. “And I know that when I come here, we’re going to do great things.”
Sarratt was hosted on his trip by fellow offensive lineman Blake Franks, a freshman on the team.
“It was fun,” Sarratt said. “We hang out, I won’t say every weekend, but we hang out a lot because I train with him.”

Before the visit weekend started, Sarratt and several of his Gaffney teammates worked out at Carolina’s OL/DL camp with offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley.
“It was fun,” Sarratt said. “It showed me what type of coach he is, and he helped me coach up all my teammates who went with me as well.”
The 6-foot-3.5, 290-pounder chose the Gamecocks over offers from Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Colorado, and NC State, among others.
“My top two choices were South Carolina and Colorado,” Sarratt said. “And the last week before my commitment, South Carolina was telling me how much they wanted me to be a Gamecock, and Colorado really wasn’t talking to me. So I knew then that that’s where I wanted to be, and it’s closer to home.”
The Gaffney standout, who had a big spring on the recruiting trail, was recruited to Columbia by Teasley and recruiting assistant Sam Serbay.
This weekend’s visit allowed him the chance to continue to grow those relationships.
“I would say me and Coach Teasley have a great relationship,” Sarratt said. “We’ve been talking since, like, I was in 10th grade, and my trainer, the man who trains me and him are best friends, so we’ve been tight.”

South Carolina plans for Sarratt to start out at tackle but he’ll also learn guard and center.
Sarratt made a big jump in On3’s ratings in the spring.
He now has a rating of 91 from On3, up from the 86 he had previously, and is ranked the No. 181 overall prospect and No. 12 interior offensive lineman in the class. That makes him the No. 4 in-state prospect in the class of 2025.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — Sarratt is the nation’s No. 341 overall prospect, No. 27 IOL, and No. 5 recruit in South Carolina.
