Arsenal to undertake ‘medical assessment’ of £60m target who's 'massively admired' by Arteta

Arsenal will reportedly look into a £60m transfer target’s injury history before making a decision on if to move for him this summer.

Arsenal and injuries have been synonymous with each other for what feels like forever, with the Gunners’ 2022/23 Premier League title bid arguably being lost after end-of-season fitness issues with William Saliba and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Whilst Arsenal have been mostly lucky this season with Jurrien Timber the only player to sustain a major injury, the north London are still trying to take steps in the right direction to ensure that their star names don’t go down with serious problems.

And it appears that Arsenal are extending this stance into their transfer targets this summer.

Arsenal to assess Pedro Neto’s injury history before plotting move

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal will undertake a ‘medical assessment’ of Wolves winger Pedro Neto before deciding if the £60m-rated Portuguese international is worth signing this summer.

As per the report, Neto is believed to be ‘massively admired’ by Mikel Arteta, with the Wolves star linked with a move to north Londo for what feels like forever, as Arsenal this summer look to sign a wide-attacker.

Impressing already at the 2024 Euros with Portugal, this window could finally be the time for Arsenal to sign Neto, who could be the missing piece in completing the Gunners’ attacking ranks ahead of the new season.

And the north London side doing their research and digging into Neto’s past fitness issues is a smart idea, considering how much time the Wolves man has missed in recent years due to injuries and other physical problems.

Arsenal evaluating Neto’s fitness is a wise decision

As stated at the top, Arsenal’s injury problems seem to come across as worse as other Premier League sides based on the evidence in recent years, with this season a rare anomaly given how few major issues there were throughout the season.

Which is why Arsenal’s medical assessment on Neto could come across as a smart idea, with the Portuguese attacker clearly talented but also quite injury-prone having missed dozens of games since joining Wolves out on the treatment table.

Indeed, Arsenal need to ensure that their next big-money signing will be worth the investment and isn’t at risk of being injured, and in Neto, some problems could get flagged up in the assessment with the Wolves star based on historical data.
