Middlesbrough were unable to make a return to the Premier League at the second time of asking under Michael Carrick.
Carrick guided the Teessiders to a fourth-place finish in the 2022/23 campaign but fell short of the playoffs by four points last time out.
Boro’s campaign was hampered by injuries and a lack of squad cohesion in the early part of the season following a drastic overhaul last summer.
But with some new faces through the door, and Middlesbrough having lost just one of their last 12 league games, spirits are high heading into 2024/25.
With that said, here is a look at some key dates for your diary.
When does the summer transfer window start?
The Championship summer transfer window opened on Friday, June 14th, 2024.
This will give Middlesbrough and the rest of the English football pyramid the ability to sign, register and sell players.
When is the summer transfer deadline day?
Transfer deadline day in England has been set as August 30th, 2024.
This date has been moved forward from previous years, bringing it in line with other major European leagues.
Middlesbrough pre-season dates
Middlesbrough will begin their 2024/25 pre-season on July 20th versus Bolton Wanderers, finishing their preparation on August 3rd against SC Heerenveen.

Championship fixture release date
The EFL will release the Championship fixture list on Wednesday, June 26th at 9am BST.
Boro fans will be keeping a keen eye on the fixtures that are set for them, including those that start and end the season as well as the matches during the festive period.
Championship 2024/25 start date
The Championship 2024/25 season will start on August 10th, 2024, though it is currently unknown which team Middlesbrough will play first.
When are the international breaks?
There are four standard international breaks across a season in the top two flights of English football, with three of those scheduled for the first half of the campaign and one in the latter stages.
