Report: West Ham now growing increasingly confident of agreeing deal to sign 'outstanding' PL player

West Ham United are growing increasingly confident of securing their second signing under Julen Lopetegui, with a bid expected to be submitted in the very near future.

It appears that West Ham are determined to bounce back from what proved, domestically, to be an underwhelming final season under David Moyes.

The Hammers have already signed Luis Guilherme, and it seems that their focus is now on strengthening their options at the heart of their defence.

The Northern Echo reports that West Ham are preparing a third bid for Wolves captain Max Kilman after a fresh round of talks with the Molineux hierarchy.

And according to the report, West Ham sources are growing increasingly confident of being able to strike a deal to bring Kilman to the London Stadium. Wolves value the 27-year-old at £45 million.

Of course, Julen Lopetegui will be confident that Kilman will be a good signing for the Hammers, having worked with the defender during his brief spell as Wolves boss before Gary O’Neil was appointed.

A smart signing Julen Lopetegui already trusts

Kilman has been extremely consistent over the last few years, particularly in the last three seasons, with the centre-back missing just nine league games in that time.

He has been an ‘outstanding‘ performer at a time when West Ham appear to desperately need more quality at the heart of the defence. The likes of Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd had struggled to silence their doubters.

It remains to be seen if West Ham are prepared to meet Kilman’s asking price in the coming days, but clearly, they believe that they are closing in on making an offer Wolves are content with.

Should they manage to get a deal done, it would appear to be another step in the right direction for West Ham as they set their sights on making a fast start under their new boss.
