'Wouldn't be surprised': Mark Guidi shares when Celtic could announce their first summer signing

The Celtic fans have been waiting for weeks for their club to signal the beginning of their transfer business with their first signing of the summer transfer window.

With speculation surrounding possible interest in players reaching an almost fever pitch, the Celtic fans are demonstrating incredible levels of calmness despite the lack of transfer activity.

With a number of positions in the team requiring attention by Brendan Rodgers, the Celtic manager is set to have a busy summer ahead in terms of opening the Hoops board’s chequebook.

And the first announcement may not be too far off according to Mark Guidi.

Why Celtic have not announced new signings yet

The Euros in Germany have been hogging all the headlines, especially with Scotland’s participation in the competition.

And that is one reason why Guidi believes Celtic have been holding off from announcing any completed moves.

Guidi said [The Go Radio Football Show], “Yeah, he needs to go and get a goalkeeper.

“Maybe he might be keeping one or two things up his sleeve because all the focus is on Scotland and you want to pick your pivotal moment to go and get as much coverage and media exposure as possible in terms of signings.

“So I wouldn’t be surprised to see something being announced at Celtic in the next four or five days.”

As Guidi says, a goalkeeper is a priority at the moment for the Celtic boss with Mark Travers the latest stopper to be linked with a move to Paradise.

But according to the latest rumours, it seems that is not the only position Rodgers could be looking at.

With Theo Bair and Tommy Conway both being mentioned as possible strike targets it seems that Rodger is looking to bolster his front line.

Coupled with the Scott McKenna rumours as well, it seems that the next few weeks could be a really busy one for the Celtic fans.
