Some of Tennessee‘s brightest stars made an appearance at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Nebraska to watch the Volunteers take home their first baseball national championship on Monday. As the Vols defeated Texas A&M 6-5 in a winner-take-all World Series final to cap off the college sports season.

It was a historic season for Tennessee and one that was on the radar for the school’s biggest names and supporters. With former Tennessee quarterback Peyton Manning, country music star Morgan Wallen, and the program’s current football and basketball coaches Josh Heupel and Rick Barnes all spotted at Monday’s game.

And after Volunteers pitcher Aaron Combs struck out Ted Burton to record the final out of the ball game, Manning and Wallen were seen celebrating the championship win side by side in an iconic moment that can be seen below.

Tennessee made history in several ways on Monday night outside of taking home their first national title in program history. Also becoming the first SEC program to win 60 games in a single season and just the fourth team in the history of the conference to win the SEC regular season championship, the SEC Tournament title, and the College World Series all in the same season. With the top-ranked Vols also representing the first No. 1 seed in the NCAA to take home the title since Miami in 1999.

Manning had his fair share of achievements as a Volunteer, celebrating in Omaha (ironically one of his iconic cadences in his playing career and the name of his production company) as a proud Tennessee alum. With his No. 16 jersey retired at Neyland Stadium after winning the SEC Freshman and Player of the Year Awards along with several Quarterback and Player of the Year awards in his breakout 1997 season. Also boasting a Hall of Fame NFL career to match his Hall of Fame college career with two Super Bowl wins and five MVP awards at the pro level.

Wallen is a Sneedville, Tennessee native who had hopes of playing baseball at the college level before tearing his UCL in high school. But his love for the Tennessee Volunteers has still shined throughout his career after pivoting and flourishing in the world of music. Repping Vols apparel during a handful of his performances and even releasing the song ‘Tennessee Fan’ in his 2022 EP titled One Thing at a Time.

Tennessee’s baseball national championship represents the 24th team national championship across all sports for the Volunteers’ program. An achievement that Barnes and Heupel will look to add on to in their respective upcoming seasons at Rocky Top.
