Arsenal fans all had a lot to say about William Saliba after France v Poland at Euro 2024

Arsenal supporters have taken to social media to deliver their verdict on William Saliba’s performance for France against Poland at Euro 2024.

Les Bleus booked their ticket to the Round of 16 with Saliba starting every match for Didier Deschamps’ side during the group stage, with the Arsenal defender playing in an unfamiliar role today against Poland in Dortmund.

Having already won praise from the French media this summer, Saliba has enjoyed a breakout tournament with the two-time FIFA World Cup champions, having failed to make much of an impact under Deschamps prior to the tournament.

And Arsenal fans have now shared what they thought of Saliba against Poland today.

Arsenal fans in awe of Saliba after France display vs Poland

Not for the first time this summer, Arsenal fans were in complete awe over Saliba after his latest performance at the Euros, a display that was made even sweeter with centre-back partner Dayot Upamecano conceding a penalty late on in the second half.

Here’s what some Arsenal supporters had to say about Saliba’s latest outing for Les Bleus.

One Arsenal fan wrote after watching Saliba’s defending against Robert Lewandowski: “Saliba giving Lewandowski hell right now lmao.”

Another supporter noted about the 23-year-old defender’s performance against Poland: “Saliba is soooo good bro!”

An Arsenal fan posted on Twitter: “Arsenal needs to give William Saliba a lifetime contract. We can’t afford to let him go ever. He’s the best there is right now.”

Whilst one more Gooner shared: “We actually hit the lottery with Saliba.”

Saliba’s breakout Euros is good news for Arsenal this summer

Having played every minute of Premier League football this season, Saliba perhaps could have benefited from a quiet competition for France where the 23-year-old was a backup option for the likes of Upamecano.

Yet the former Saint-Etienne wonderkid instead enjoying a breakout Euros could be good news for Arsenal, with Saliba’s international reputation hitting new heights as the defender again established himself as one of the best in the world.

Indeed, Saliba has now put France in an excellent position to go far at this summer’s Euros, and the defender’s cool and calm performance against Poland was another big moment for the centre-back and his international career.

Arsenal winners and losers at Euro 2024

With Arsenal players such as Kai Havertz and Kieran Tierney experiencing mixed starts to the tournament, the pair assessed which Gunners were the winners and losers from the group stages so far.

There was some talk about transfers based off the Euros, with Arsenal-linked Amadou Onana’s display for Belgium discussed, whilst Leandro Trossard’s poor performance was analysed, and Bukayo Saka’s sensational England showing lauded.
