Michigan State received a commitment from class of 2025 cornerback Aydan West on Tuesday. He announced his decision during a ceremonyposted live to social media. West (6-0, 180) spent the weekend of June 21 in East Lansing with his family for an official visit.
Michigan State cornerbacks coach Demetrice Martin offered West earlier this month, and the cornerback prospect quickly scheduled an official visit to East Lansing. He chose the Spartans over finalists Cincinnati, West Virginia, Penn State, Duke, Virginia and Wake Forest. West took official visits to West Virginia and Cincinnati in June.
West is a three-star prospect and the No. 999 overall recruit in the 2025 class, per theOn3 Industry Rankings. He is also the No. 89 cornerback and the No. 29 recruit from Maryland in his class.
West’s relationship with Martin – along with the cornerback’s coach track record – was the deciding factor for West.
“The history of success and the development in their program (stands out),” West toldSpartanMag. “I really believe coach Meat can develop me to the highest level. I have seen him do it.”
Along with Martin, West has kept in contact with director of defensive player personnel Austin D’Armond and director of recruiting Michael Doctor. He grew closer with each coach during his official visit over the weekend.
“It was great,” West said of his visit. “I didn’t expect it to go how it went. (Michigan State) exceeded my expectations. I thought it was a school just all about business and thought they didn’t really have genuine people. They threw those thoughts away. They definitely crushed that.”
“Honestly, I’ve talked to almost every coach,” West continued. “The most, I would say, are coach Meat, coach Austin, and coach Doc. Everyone there was genuine. They were all invested in my family and I. They showed us how much they value their players, even when they aren’t with recruits. I saw how they treated their players.”
Michigan State now holds 11commitments in its 2025 class. California quarterback Leo Hannan, California offensive lineman Drew Nichols, Ohio wide receiver Braylon Collier, Texas receiver Charles Taplin, Wisconsin tight end Emmett Bork, in-state tight endJayden Savoury and in-state running back Jace Clarizio round out the class on the offensive side of the ball.
In-state linebackers Charles White and DiMari Malone, along with Florida safety George Mullins, join West on the defensive side of the ball.
