Another elite name in racing is set to join Kevin Harvick this weekend at the Five Flags Speedway, with Chase Elliott appearing on the official roster for the event on Friday night.

Elliott will be rocking the No. 9 car, sponsored by FR8 Racing, Hendrickcars.com and the Chase Elliott Store. He’ll be driving a Chevrolet, like Harvick.

It’ll be a nice change of pace for Elliott, who is right in the thick of the NASCAR Cup Series race. Elliott currently has 620 Cup Series points, tied with Kyle Larson for the lead. Larson currently holds the tiebreaker edge, though.

Chase Elliott has already won one race this season on the Cup Series circuit, while he has secured seven top-five finishes and nine top-10s.

This weekend’s ASA Southern Super Series race at Five Flags Speedway will be a little less intense, though it’ll certainly be competitive in its own right.

Harvick had previously announced he would race on June 28 at the Five Flags Speedway on the ASA circuit as one of two appearances this season. His other showing will come in the CARS Tour on Aug. 3 at North Wilkesboro.

A FOX analyst on NASCAR, Harvick spent the first half of the season in the booth breaking down races for fans. But with FOX’s coverage of NASCAR ending at the midpoint of the season and it shifting to NBC, Harvick has been freed up to race.

A former Cup Series champion and Sprint Cup Series champion, Kevin Harvick will have plenty of fans, as will Chase Elliott.

Harvick’s appearance comes with a special tie to the event, Busch Light’s Night at the Races.

He spent the best years of his career with Busch as a sponsor. It is a partnership that has apparently outlasted even the existence of Stewart-Haas Racing.

Harvick fields cars in the CARS Tour and is a series co-owner.

Before his retirement from the Cup Series, Harvick had a long and successful career as a driver at the top levels of NASCAR. He was the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champions, then later won the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series regular season crown.

He’s a previous Daytona 500 winner, a three-time Brickyard 400 winner, a two-time Coca-Cola 600 winner,a three-time Sprint Unlimited winner, a two-time Cook Out Southern 500 winner and more.

Harvick also remains the all-time wins leader at Phoenix International Raceway.
