Manchester United enter race to sign Tijjani Noslin, breakout star who netted against Serie A's top teams

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Dutch forward Tijjani Noslin, according to an Italian report.

Serie A side Hellas Verona signed Tijjani Noslin in January from Dutch club Fortuna Sittard, for a fee around £2.5 million.

He has impressed with five goals and four assists in 17 appearances in Serie A for Verona.

Noslin plays as a right winger, but has also been deployed by Verona as a striker in a more central role.

TMW report Manchester United are set to battle for Lazio for his signature, who may be considering him as an alternative to Mason Greenwood.

It is claimed Verona would look for around £15 million for Noslin, plus a percentage of a future sale.

The 24-year-old is under contract until 2027. He has had a quite remarkable rise over the past 12 months and being linked with United is notable in itself.

Noslin began his career with Twente’s youth side, before playing amateur football, eventually landing a move to Fortuna Sittard.

Last year summer he turned down a move to Championship side Millwall, VI reported, deciding to gamble that a bigger move might come his way.

He said: “The fact that Millwall wanted me gives extra energy. I also see the fact that Fortuna turned down an offer as a compliment. From zero euros to a million in two years, that is special. I just have to keep going. Who knows, maybe double figures will be offered for me in a while.”

Verona came calling in January, and he seized his chance to impress in Serie A, scoring goals against AC Milan, Juventus, Fiorentina and champions Inter Milan.

Where Noslin might fit in at United

A step up to Manchester United might be a challenge too far for the forward, but Ineos may see him as a low-risk gamble.

United are expected to sell Jadon Sancho, Mason Greenwood and Facundo Pellistri possibly too, creating an opportunity for added squad depth.

Noslin’s ability to play on the wing or at striker could appeal, and his pace and eye for goal might fit Erik ten Hag’s quick transition style of play.

Lazio have an advantage in the race after appointing Marco Baroni as manager this summer, the coach who signed Noslin for Verona earlier this year.
