Liverpool on the verge of signing Premier League youngster who they think is a ‘big talent’

Liverpool have brought in some brilliant young players to supplement the first-team over recent years.

If there has been one criticism of the Reds over recent decades, it’s that they haven’t brought through as many top young players as they should have.

While the likes of Chelsea and Aston Villa churn out excellent youngsters who either boost their senior sides or their transfer coffers, the Liverpool academy has not always done the same.

That has changed quite dramatically over the past couple of years. As the likes of Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley have shown, Liverpool are now developing players who can make it to the top.

But it isn’t just the home grown prospects who are impressing. The Reds have also become adept at bringing some of the UK’s best young talent to Anfield. And it looks like they’re about to do it again.

Liverpool closing in on Alvin Ayman signing

The list of names that Liverpool have brought in from elsewhere in the UK over recent times is really quite staggering.

Running back to Harvey Elliott from Fulham in 2019, the Reds have added players such as Kaide Gordon, Bobby Clark and James McConnell to the academy.

All of those players have made an impact in the first-team and look set to have bright futures either at Liverpool or beyond.

More recently, the Reds signed Trey Nyoni and Amara Nallo last summer. Both players have already progressed well with Liverpool, Nyoni making his first-team debut in February.

This summer, the Reds are at it again. As demonstrated in the pathway presented to others, Liverpool tend to make these signings with a view to slotting the players into the first-team.

And according to journalist David Lynch, there is now ‘excitement’ over Wolves midfielder Alvin Ayman, who is now on the verge of a move to Merseyside.

“The deal is close to being done,” Lynch tells Anfield Index. “Liverpool are in talks to get that done. It’s obviously a strange one with the young kids because you’re trying to agree a few that won’t incur a tribunal being involved and all that.

“I think Liverpool are keen to avoid that, but it sounds like they’re pretty confident that one will get done,” he adds. “There’s excitement around this lad and they think he’s a big talent.”

Who is Alvin Ayman?

With the news bubbling around over the past week or so, fans may already have had a chance to read up about Alvin Ayman.

The 16-year-old is yet to make his senior professional but looks like a big prospect all the same.

At Wolves just a year since a move from Bradford City, Ayman is also an England U17 international and featured on the bench for Gary O’Neil’s side last season.

As a midfielder, Liverpool fans may look at Ayman as being in the Nyoni mould, but he looks to be a bigger, more powerful player than the 17-year-old.

As ever, there shouldn’t be too much pressure put on the young man to succeed straight away. But once he settles into the youth teams perhaps it won’t be too long before he comes to Arne Slot’s attention.

Let’s hope this is all sorted and Ayman is in his new surroundings soon.
