National media deliver intriguing verdict on Brandon Aguilera after Costa Rica draw with Brazil

Nottingham Forest boasts a number of hot properties within their squad and the future does feel bright on Trentside.

One of the burgeoning young talents is Brandon Aguilera and right now he’s playing for Costa Rica at the Copa America.

On Monday night, he helped his country defy the odds by holding the heavily fancied Brazil to a 0-0 draw in their opening game of the competition.

After the game, Aguilera managed to get Rodrygo’s shirt and also managed to get it signed by Brazilian superstar Neymar.

Forest gem Aguilera was also in for some praise from the national media in Costa Rica for his latest performance during the goalless encounter.

What the national media said about Brandon Aguilera after Copa America draw

Well, this was a night that will live long in the memory for Aguilera as he played for his country wearing the number 10 shirt.

Brazil are among the favourites to win this tournament and it was anticipated they’d be too strong for Costa Rica.

However, Aguilera and his teammates stood firm, defending resolutely and keeping out the South American outfit.

After the game, the Forest academy player was afforded some praise from the national media who also mentioned that he’d managed to get Rodrygo’s shirt.

La Nacion said: “The player had a good performance against Brazil and stood out for his physical display and good record.”

Forest have a big decision to make on Brandon Aguilera

It’s really great to see Aguilera enjoy a run for the national team and he will take confidence that he now appears to be a regular for Costa Rica.

He spent the second half of last season on loan with Bristol Rovers and did manage a couple of goals, although he missed some games with a hamstring complaint.

Once the Copa America is out of the way, the Reds will have a big decision to make on Aguilera.

If they decide to loan him out it should be to a club that he will play regularly at and one that is willing to give him a run of games as a number 10 – his natural position.

Alternatively, Forest might choose to keep Aguilera around for next season.

At 20, he was handed a chance from the bench against Brentford in the Premier League last season and Nuno Espirito Santo might fancy him as a decent backup option for Morgan Gibbs-White.

Only time will tell what decision the club chooses to make on the future of Aguilera.
