Newt Gingrich inadvertently gives Biden a killer line to use on Trump

Former President Joe Biden is getting some sharp debating advice from a highly unlikely source.

In an interview with NBC News, Trump ally and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said that Biden could very easily deflect attacks about his age by claiming that his age has given him a wisdom that former President Donald Trump, despite being only three years younger, seems to lack.

“If I were Biden, I would stay away from the age issue and just say, ‘Look, I was wise enough not to try to overthrow the U.S. government,’” he said. “Go through a list of five things in a row and say, ‘I would rather have my age with wisdom than your total lack of seriousness.’”

After the 2020 election, Trump infamously refused to concede that he lost then engaged in a months-long allegedly criminal conspiracy to overturn it that included asking his Justice Department to baselessly declare the entire election "corrupt"; strong-arming the Georgia secretary of state to "find" him the votes he needed to overturn the results; pressuring his then-vice president to violate the Constitution by unilaterally throwing out certified election results; and then inciting a deadly riot at the United States Capitol.

In addition to this, Trump is still refusing to concede the election and has even vowed to pardon the violent convicted criminals who stormed the Capitol on his behalf.

Gingrich wasn't the only Republican to offer Biden advice for cutting Trump down to size at the debate.

"If I was advising him [Biden], I’d try to make fun of Trump,” former Vice President Dan Quayle told NBC News. “Try to ridicule him. That will get him mad.”

Veteran Democratic strategist James Carville, meanwhile, advised Biden to go right for Trump's throat.

"“At some point, you have to walk into the room and say, ‘We’re going to kick his f-----g ass,’” Carville told the publication. “We’re going to clock this motherf----r, you understand?"
