NC State Newsstand: Pack secures top-25 Directors’ Cup finish

For the fourth-consecutive year, NC State’s athletic department finished in the Learfield Directors’ Cup top 25— a nationwide competition that measures the overall success of the NCAA’s athletic departments.

The Wolfpack checked in at No. 21 after securing men’s and women’s basketball Final Four appearances, a 9-win football season, a women’s cross country national title and a Men’s College World Series berth. The 2023-2024 academic year was arguably the most successful in university history.

NC State has only finished in the top 25 on 5 occasions in university history, with 4 coming under athletic director Boo Corrigan’s leadership.

“Congratulations to our student-athletes, coaches and staff who gave us so many memorable moments in 2023-24,” Corrigan said in a press release. “I think it speaks volumes about the Wolfpack culture that we came out of the pandemic, went to work and finished among the top teams in the country for four straight years.

“And to our fans, thank you for your unwavering support and generosity. There is strength in our Pack because of you.”

Per Wolfpack athletics, the school also finished with its highest “multi-year Academic Progress Rate (APR),” so the athletes continue to excel in the classroom as well.

NC State’s Directors’ Cup final standing ranks No. 5 in the ACC, trailing Duke, Florida State, North Carolina and Virginia. The Wolfpack finished No. 19 in 2023, No. 17 in 2022 and No. 23 in 2021.
