Mohammed Kudus faced off against numerous top-level players throughout his debut season in the Premier League.
After arriving at West Ham United from Ajax back in the 2023 summer transfer window, the 23-year-old went on to score eight goals and deliver six assists in 33 top-flight games.
One of those goals came against Manchester City on the final day of the season, which saw Pep Guardiola’s side lift their sixth Premier League trophy in seven years by beating the Hammers 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
With the 2024/25 season on the way, the Ghanaian has shared his thoughts on one particular opponent he came up against last term, who will be well-known to many City supporters.
Mohammed Kudus says Erling Haaland is one of the best he’s ever played against
In a recent video shared on the West Ham United YouTube channel, Kudus was asked to come up with a world XI of the best players he’s either come up against as an opponent or played with as a teammate.
For the striker position, Kudus picked Erling Haaland and then said this about the City star.
He said: “As a striker, you want to put the ball in the net, he has that quality so I’ll go for him. Strong, fast, worries defenders and scores goals so I’ll go for Haaland.”

Since joining the Manchester club back in the 2022 summer transfer window from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth a reported fee of £51m, the Norwegian has appeared in 98 games in all competitions.
Across those matches, the 23-year-old, who Manuel Akanji said back in May he’s been very impressed by, has found the back of the net 90 times in total.
In fact, Haaland has scored against all of the 22 top-flight sides he’s come up against, which shows why Kudus said he worries the defences he’s faced off against during his time in England.
All in all, it shouldn’t surprise many City supporters that Kudus picked Haaland as the most dangerous striker he’s ever faced.
