'Made contact': Romano drops Manchester United transfer claim as multiple targets discussed from one club

Manchester United are keeping Erik ten Hag and it’s no surprise that transfer rumours are really starting to accelerate now his future is clearer.

Ineos had much to think about at the end of the season.

The FA Cup final victory over Manchester City was a truly euphoric moment but the season as a whole was a major disappointment.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and co have still decided to keep hold of Erik ten Hag, handing him a chance to bounce back from last season.

We are now seeing more and more transfer rumours around Manchester United with business likely to pick up now Ten Hag’s future is settled.

A bid has already been rejected for Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite and United are now keen on activating the release clause in Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee’s contract.

Fabrizio Romano on Manchester United target Manuel Ugarte

United are also looking for a new midfielder or two and speculation suggests that Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte is on the wish list.

Reports this week suggest that United have spoken to PSG about a potential deal for Ugarte.

An initial offer is thought to have been rejected but United remain keen on the Uruguayan.

The former Sporting midfielder found himself in and out of the PSG side in the second half of the season and could be on the move already.

United are keen on Ugarte, seemingly believing that he can add the bite and aggression in midfield with Casemiro not quite the player he was at Real Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano has now offered an update, taking to social media to comment on Ugarte’s future.

Transfer insider Romano claims that Ugarte ‘has chances to leave’ PSG this summer with the Ligue 1 champions ‘open to selling him’.

PSG want a ‘good proposal’ though and other reports suggest that their asking price is around £50million.

That is similar to the amount PSG paid to sign Ugarte from Sporting last summer, so they appear to be looking to get most of their money back.

Romano drops interesting United transfer claim

Whilst stating that United had been in contact with PSG about a deal for Ugarte, Romano made a rather interesting claim.

Romano stated that the ‘talks were on several players’ with Ugarte just one of the names on the wish list.

No other names are mentioned, so who on earth could United be looking at signing this summer?

One man who fits the bill is Dutch talent Xavi Simons, who is back at PSG this summer after a loan spell with RB Leipzig.

United have already been linked with Simons and he certainly makes sense as one other player United may have mentioned in talks with PSG.

Midfielders Fabian Ruiz and Carlos Soler could be moved on this summer with the former turning in strong performances for Spain at Euro 2024.

Striker Goncalo Ramos has been on the United radar in the past and had a rather mixed first season with PSG.

PSG will want a big signing to replace Kylian Mbappe this summer and we wouldn’t rule out cashing in on Ramos to put funds towards a bigger signing in attack.

Maybe some discussions were around United players heading the other way; Marcus Rashford has been mentioned as a PSG target in years gone by.

United may be considering a host of PSG players, but Ugarte appears to be the priority right now.
