'A new suitor': Mega-rich European giants join race to sign 'outstanding' £60m Wolves star - journalist

One of the richest clubs in Europe are reportedly now interested in signing Pedro Neto from Wolves.

In recent weeks, speculation has rather died down about Neto.

Most of the talk has been about captain Max Kilman, with a host of Premier League clubs on the Molineux captain’s tail.

Neto is currently at Euro 2024 with Portugal, which perhaps explains the lack of reports about him.

Previously, it has been claimed that Arsenal have been keen on Neto, and also Newcastle United.

Apparently though, both of those clubs do have some reservations about Neto’s injury record, with the player having missed a fair bit of football over the past few years. It is also thought they feel Neto’s £60 million asking price is too high.

But another club are now said to be taking an interest in the player, and they could be in a position to pay big money.

There is still a feeling for many Wolves fans this summer than Neto will end up leaving.

He has been at the club for five years now, and he probably would have already left by now had he not suffered so many injuries.

Without doubt, he is a Champions League-standard player.

But it’s whether a club will be willing to come in and meet Wolves’ demands.

Journalist Ben Jacobs appeared on The Wolfpack Podcast, and said that one mega-rich club are now interested in Neto.

He said: “Arsenal are maybe the ones that have historically held the most serious interest in terms of Wolves’ Premier League rivals.

“Anyone wanting the outlay for Neto is going to have to wait, in likelihood, until later in the window and assess their own outgoings situation and then decide if they can move.

“A new suitor, I’m told, considering Neto is PSG. They have a bit more budget, because Mbappe’s left.”

Jacobs goes on to say that Kylian Mbappe, now of Real Madrid of course, has a verbal agreement with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to forgo a bunch of loyalty bonuses. So the French giants, when they take his wages off, will have money to spend.

Jacobs also states that Borussia Dortmund also really like Neto, but don’t have ‘anywhere near’ the money required.

Wolves selling Neto to PSG would be absolutely ideal

If Neto isn’t going to stay at Molineux, then Wolves selling him to Paris Saint-Germain would be absolutely ideal.

Many Wanderers fans would love to see the 24-year-old stick around, but they are also realistic. Neto’s value may never be higher than it is now, after he was ‘outstanding’ in the 2023/24 season despite his injuries.

The biggest positive of Neto going to PSG would be that Wolves wouldn’t have to worry about Neto stinging them.

If he went to an English club, like Arsenal, there would obviously be potential for Neto to affect Wolves.

We will see if the French giants – who are one of the richest clubs in the world – come calling. The money they are saving with Mbappe leaving might just help encourage them to pay Wolves’ £60 million asking price.
