Report: Wolves have recently watched a 'very skilful' EFL teenager, but face competition from Man Utd

Wolves are reported to have made checks on a young striker in League Two recently.

It has been a productive start to the summer for Wolves on the transfers front, with two new players signing.

Rodrigo Gomes came in from Braga, with the 20-year-old having enjoyed a brilliant season on loan at Estoril in 2023/24.

Teenage full-back Pedro Lima will complete a move to the club on July 1, after Wolves reached an agreement with Sport Recife.

And it had already been confirmed that midfielder Tommy Doyle had turned his loan move from Manchester City permanent.

Wolves are constantly on the lookout for top prospects. The model at Molineux is to unearth gems, develop them and then sell them for big money, in order to help the club become self-sustaining.

And it would appear the club have now spotted another potential young talent.

Wolves have some serious talent on the books at the moment, and fans will hope that some of these youngsters can go on to make a big impact in the first-team.

We saw last season how Gary O’Neil gave chances to young players. Granted, injuries to key players forced his hand a little. But there is definitely a pathway for young talent at the club.

According to the Daily Mail, Wolves are now said to have looked at young Swindon Town striker Botan Ameen.

Ameen joined the Swindon Town Academy as a scholar, after he left Championship side QPR earlier in his career.

He is described by the club as someone who ‘possesses very skilful ability and creative footwork to allow him to carry the ball forward well into dangerous positions’.

The 17-year-old is yet to turn out for Swindon’s first-team.

Wolves are not the only club to have looked at Ameen. Apparently, Manchester United have also watched him ‘among others’.

Ameen was recently called up to the Iraq U20s squad to play in their Asia Cup qualifiers.

Wolves plan is clear

So Wolves are now showing interest in Swindon’s Botan Ameen, and it’s clear the club are seeking to bring in top prospects in the hope they go on to become top players.

Shortly after the club signed Joao Gomes last year, it was reported the club were intent on making similar signings. They wanted to bring in more younger players who are unpolished, but have the potential to grow and eventually have a much bigger market value.

Rodrigo has been signed, with Lima to follow.

Earlier this year, Wolves landed exciting young striker Fletcher Holman from National League South side Eastbourne Borough, and last year, the club brought in Tawanda Chirewa after a spell at Ipswich Town.
