There’s reportedly a good chance that Chelsea’s summer transfer target could be sold in this current window.
Chelsea do have several quality goalkeepers on their books, but they’re linked with a shot-stopper currently lighting up Euro 2024.
The Blues already have Djordje Petrovic, Robert Sanchez and Marcus Bettinelli as first-team goalkeeping options in the squad. There’s rumours that Enzo Maresca’s side are looking for a new keeper, though.
Chelsea target Giorgi Mamardashvili in line to be sold
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed via X on Thursday morning that Valencia have “concrete” plans to sell their goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili this summer.
He’s said that the 23-year-old gloveman is “one to watch” in the transfer market. Apparently, Spanish side Valencia will ask potential buyers for around €35/40m (£30m/34m).
This comes after recent speculation linking Chelsea with the Valencia and Georgia star.
Journalist Ben Jacobs reported via X at the end of May that Chelsea appreciate Valencia keeper Mamardashvili as a possible summer target as they scout the market for goalkeepers.
His reputation is growing at Euro 2024
Spanish audiences will have been aware of Mamardashvili for the last few years with him impressing as Valencia’s number one. He’s played 100 games in total for them, keeping 31 clean sheets.
However, he’s now shining on the Euro 2024 stage where the audience is even bigger.
Mamardashvili is the number one goalkeeper for a Georgia side that have been one of the surprise packages of the Euros tournaments so far. They have collected four points in Group F to qualify for the last-16 stage.
