Leaders Collingham & District 1sts made it 10 wins from 11 games at the top of the Notts Premier League Division Two on Saturday.

Having won the toss, Thoresby Colliery’s decision to bat first appeared a wise choice as they advanced to 85-2 thanks largely to 28 from Avindu Pathirana and opener Danny Tyson’s quickfire 19.

But Pathirana’s dismissal by Max Shenton started a flurry of wickets as Thoresby then went from 100-3 to 139 all out in the 47th over.

Lee Willis top-scored with 34 but Charlie Dixon took two wickets in one over while Adam Mendham finished up with three wickets.

Collingham chased down the runs inside 30 overs for the loss of just three wickets.

Opener Jack Copley went for 22 in the fifth over before Joe Saxelby (20) was next to depart with the score on 103-2 in the 22nd over. The star of the show was Ben Jones, who remained unbeaten on 69 from 79 balls, with 11 fours to his name.

Bottom side Balderton’s struggles continued as they lost by 113 runs against Gedling Colliery.

Opting to field first, Balderton’s Scott Barnsdale struck with the new ball when he trapped opener Duncan McKeown leg before for five.

Skipper Danny O’Brien made 54 for Gedling and while two quick wickets saw them slump to 44-3, that only served to bring Conor O’Brien to the crease. He hit 10 fours and three sixes on his way to 107 off 118 balls.

A late flurry of wickets saw Gedling close on 243-7, Ryan Charlesworth the pick of the attack with 2-40 in 10 overs.

Balderton struggled in reply, slumping to 43-6 as Abbas Ishaq worked his way through the top order.

It was left to Jamie Gilbertson (30) and Daniel Pinfold (46) to try and repair the damage, putting on 76 for the seventh wicket. Gilbertson’s dismissal sparked another flurry of wickets, however, and they went from 119-6 to 130 all out in 32.2 overs.

Ishaq took 5-40 while there were two wickets apiece for Danny O’Brien (2-20) and Sami Ullah (2-12).
