'Exceptional' player still has his heart set on joining Everton with decision coming soon - Fabrizio Romano

An ‘exceptional’ Premier League talent still has his heart set on joining Everton, and a transfer decision is set to be made imminently.

It’s certainly been a busy couple of weeks at Goodison Park after the Toffees captured the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam.

The Blues are also reportedly interested in Chelsea striker Armando Broja, and former Sheffield United striker Iliman Ndiaye is now looking ever the more likely to be an Everton player for the 2024/25 campaign.

Regarding outgoings, Amadou Onana’s future looks uncertain, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been subjected to interest from Newcastle United.

Another potential transfer that has rumbled on between Newcastle United and Everton involves Yankuba Minteh.

The Gambian views a move to Goodison Park as a priority despite only joining Newcastle last summer for £6.5m.

But, after shining on loan with Feyenoord, the 19-year-old has his heart set on a Premier League move.

Olympique Lyon, however, have entered the race and transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has shared the latest on his personal X account.

“Yankuba Minteh, one to watch in the next 24/48h as Newcastle are still trying to sell him due to Financial Fair Play restrictions,” he wrote.

“Olympique Lyon made the best proposal, Minteh’s still keen on Everton move as priority. #NUFC and Minteh in contact to make decision soon.”

Newcastle United selling Yankuba Minteh could be a risk

After bagging ten goals and five assists in the Eredivisie last season, Newcastle are probably quite reluctant to sell their Gambian ace.

However, with PSR rules tightening around several Premier League clubs, the Magpies have very little choice.

And with Minteh reportedly keen on a move to Merseyside, this could be one for Evertonians to get excited about.

The 19-year-old’s former teammate, Igor Paixo, piled on the praise toward the back end of last season.

Speaking about Minteh’s ability to Dutch outlet AD, he said: “Yankuba keeps going. He has so much power and speed. An exceptional talent in an exceptionally strong phase of his career.”

Adding another youngster with electric pace would mark an excellent start to the summer window for the Toffees.
