The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart, in a special live post-debate show, struggled to defend Joe Biden’s debate performance against Donald Trump, telling the audience the president's performance was “not great.”

“We just watched what you watched,” Stewart said during the beginning of his monologue on Thursday.

The Daily Show host noted the debate was a “highly-anticipated affair, according to the network that was running it,” before playing a brutal supercut of CNN's own debate month-long countdown that billed it as an "historic" event.

“What did the political class say would be the criteria to be successful before the debate?” Stewart asked, noting Trump’s bar to clear was to “just pretend to be normal for 90 minutes” while Biden’s was to “remain upright.”

Stewart then played a high-circulated clip of a Biden gaffe claiming “we finally beat Medicare” before going off on the president’s performance.

“Okay, a high pressure situation,” Stewart conceded. “A lot of times you can confuse saving Medicare with beating it. I’m sure it’s not something that repeated throughout the debate, causing Democrats across the country to either jump out of windows or vomit silently into the nearest recycling bin.”

“Anybody can f*** up talking,” Stewart quipped. “How did Biden do not talking?”

After playing a video of a wide-eyed Biden reacting to Trump, Stewart drove home his concerns about the president’s performance.

“Not great,” Stewart said. “A lot of people have resting 25th Amendment face.”

The comedian then asked if there’s “any moment here that can save Biden" before highlighting the president’s flub on abortion. During that portion of the debate, Biden pivoted from talking about one of the Democratic Party's strongest issues to discussing illegal immigration.

“Did you just immigration abortion?” A bewildered Stewart asked.

“Let me just say, after watching tonight’s debate, both of these men should be using performance-enhancing drugs,” Stewart said. “I’m sorry, both. As much of it as they can get, as many times a day as their bodies will allow. If performance-enhancing drugs will improve their lucidity, their ability to solve problems, and in one of the candidates’ cases, improve their truthfulness, morality, and malignant narcissism, then suppository away.”
