Chelsea 'submit offer' for Leicester City man as Enzo Maresca plots raid on former club - journalist

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca could now raid former club Leicester City for a marquee summer signing.

Former boss Enzo Maresca led Leicester City to Championship glory by clinching the title last season, but has since taken over as manager at Chelsea.

After Maresca’s departure, Leicester City’s appointment of Steve Cooper has brought out a sense of urgency for the Foxes to get business done with their players following their promotion from the Championship.

However, Leicester City are currently amid an ongoing appeal for breaching Premier League spending rules and are in danger of another breach prior to the PSR deadline on June 30th, meaning that key players may have to be sold in order to avoid any further penalties.

One star midfielder looked set to leave the King Power Stadium after a swap deal was agreed between Leicester City and fellow Premier League club Brighton, however the deal has since fallen through.

Leicester City star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall turns down Brighton amidst Chelsea interest

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has reportedly turned down an approach from Brighton, per David Ornstein.

The deal included a swap deal, which would have seen Polish midfielder Jakub Molder sign for the Foxes.

It’s reported that Dewsbury-Hall has a desire to reconnect with former boss Maresca at Chelsea for the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Chelsea have now submitted an offer which would see the Englishman offered a long term deal at Stamford Bridge.

The 25-year-old managed 26 goal contributions last season for Maresca’s title winning side and will be hopeful to replicate that form with the West London giants.

Leicester City will struggle to replicate the impact of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

With Dewsbury-Hall set on a move to a Chelsea side taking part in the Europa Conference League in the 2024/25 season, Leicester City will have to act quickly in replacing their key midfielder.

Options will be far and few in finding a player with the talent of Dewsbury-Hall, who has been so instrumental in the way the Foxes have played.

Dewsbury-Hall was perfect for the formation and style for Leicester City last season, of which was set to be fairly similar under Cooper with three in midfield.

It’s clear how crucial Cooper believed it was to keep ahold of the goalscoring midfielder, after holding talks with him so early on in his tenure.

If they even have the capabilities to do so, Leicester will have to throw some serious money about to get a player of such a calibre, otherwise their the set-up may have to be altered to focus the attacking threat out wide, where they hold the most threat without Dewsbury-Hall’s presence.
