General Election 2024: Gary Conway from the Heritage Party believes our ‘glorious history and wonderful heritage’ should be protected

A Heritage Party candidate said that his aim is to provide a “genuine alternative” to voting Conservative.

Gary Conway is the party’s candidate for South West Norfolk, who has said that his party “stands out from the rest”.

The 48-year-old has lived in South West Norfolk for 16 years and decided to stand in this year’s general election although he has not previously served as a politician.

The Heritage Party, which was founded in 2020 and has 41 candidates standing across the country, prides itself on reintroducing “traditional family values” back to Britain.

Mr Conway worked in the charity sector for many years and was head of fundraising at the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO) in Thetford.

The candidate told the Lynn News that he has battled with Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME)/chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) for a number of years and wants to raise awareness of it.

He said: “I have battled with ME/CFS for many years and would like to raise the profile of this hidden disease that affects so many in our region.”

Policies in the Heritage Party’s manifesto include cutting down on immigration, putting an end to “depressingly ugly modernist architecture”, lowering taxes, increasing animal welfare and protecting UK culture and heritage.

Mr Conway said: “I am not a politician but decided to stand at this election for the Heritage Party to give the people of South West Norfolk a genuine alternative.

“The buzzword at this election is ‘change’. Everyone agrees that we need it, but what’s on offer is just more of the same by a different name.

“I am delighted to stand for a party that stands out from the rest, the only trustworthy party with integrity and a moral purpose. We have been led down a path of managed decline by successive governments.

“The current government has lost all moral authority having spent 14 years undermining our society, culture and economy. We are a great nation and we deserve better.”

He added: “We have a glorious history and a wonderful heritage which has been given to us by our forefathers, which we should enjoy and build upon to pass on to our children and grandchildren.”

Mr Conway said that he believes “mass immigration” should end and the Government should be focusing on other things rather than climate.

He said: “If we are to thrive once more then the 25-year catastrophic experiment with mass immigration must end. The sexualisation of children, largely through the highly political LGBTQ+ agenda, must end.

“Sacrificing the prosperity and freedom of ordinary people on the altar of climate alarmism must end.

“Warmongering in foreign countries must end.

“Instead, we must pursue the common sense, socially conservative, family values policies found in the Heritage Party manifesto, that will return our country to the thriving, stable, secure and confident nation that it once was.”
