Report: What Newcastle sources are now saying about Yankuba Minteh as Everton try to accelerate move

Yankuba Minteh’s future at Newcastle United looks increasingly uncertain.

Newcastle themselves are believed to have accepted that the teenager – who thrilled on loan at Feyenoord last season – may need to be sold as they look to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules.

Minteh himself is also thought to have accepted he will be leaving St James’ Park, despite his initial surprise that he could be sold without ever playing a game for the club.

The 19-year-old is believed to want to play Premier League football, albeit a deal to take him to Everton reportedly collapsed a few days ago now.

There have, however, since been developments.

What Newcastle sources are now saying about Yankuba Minteh as Everton accelerate transfer plans

According to The Chronicle, Everton have attempted to get talks back on track, while leaving the door slightly open for Newcastle in their pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

They also stress that Newcastle sources have denied any suggestions that Minteh was threatened with being cast into the reserve team if he did not move to Lyon, who had reportedly offered £40m for his services.

Yankuba Minteh could leave Newcastle imminently

Minteh is already thought to have agreed terms with another club as he looks to take the next step in his career.

It remains unclear as to whether or not that club is indeed Everton but it does seem as if the situation will soon come to a head.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Minteh could leave Newcastle in the coming days, which should help the club balance the books ahead of the PSR deadline on June 30.

While it will no doubt be a shame to see a player with such hype around him leave without ever actually playing a game for Newcastle, the financial landscape the club are operating in seemingly forces their hand.
