Former South Carolina guard Ta’Lon Cooper has agreed to an Exhibit-10 deal with the Orlando Magic, according to Stock Risers.

Exhibit-10 deals allow NBA teams to convert a player’s one-year, minimum contract into a two-way deal. In other words, it’s essentially a tryout. These deals are typically non-guaranteed, which allows teams to waive players and remove them from their cap hit from the payroll.

Cooper transferred to South Carolina before the start of the 2023-24 season and had a fine year. He averaged 9.9 points per game on 48 percent shooting from the field. He shot 45.9 percent from three-point range and averaged 4.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

Before becoming a Gamecock, he spent time with Morehead State and Minnesota. For his career, he’s a career 8.8 points per game scorer with 3.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

In this year’s NBA Draft, the Magic picked Colorado’s Tristan da Silva with the 18th overall pick. In the second round, they took Kentucky’s Antonio Reeves at pick No. 47.

The Magic will open their summer league slate against the Cleveland Cavaliers on July 12 in Las Vegas. Tip-off is at 4 p.m. on NBA TV.
