Former USC defensive back Ceyair Wright has committed to Nebraska out of the NCAA transfer portal.
Wright played for the Trojans for three seasons and set career highs in 2022. Over the course of three years, Wright finished with 41 total tackles, 30 solo tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception and five pass deflections.
As a member of the Class of 2021, Wright was a four-star recruit out of Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 5 overall prospect in the state, the No. 6 cornerback in the class and the No. 75 overall prospect in the class.

The former top-100 prospect and four-star recruit in the 2021 class had not been with the Trojans dating back to this past fall. He was not listed on the spring roster either. His last appearance with USC came against Notre Dame in mid-October.
“I don’t. I don’t. He’s not with us right now. That’s all I can say about it,” USC head coach Lincoln Riley said at the time.
Wright has always been an actor and model, appearing in several movies, TV shows and commercials. He played the son of LeBron James in “Space Jam 2” in 2021, too. He’s also appeared on the ABC comedy Grown-ish.
Off the field, Wright has more than 68,000 social media followers. During his senior year at Loyola High School, he was the focus of a “Dual Threat” documentary produced by Overtime.
Now, he’ll get a fresh start at Nebraska under head coach Matt Rhule.
Ceyair Wright part of bounce back Nebraska?
With Wright joining the Huskers, it could be an opportune time for the veteran defensive back. Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt is very high on Nebraska going into the 2024 campaign.
“Nebraska has a team that I think could be really good,” Klatt said on his show. “They were 5-7 a year ago. And you look at those seven losses, and I’m telling you like, it was all quarterback turnovers, almost all of it. They were very competitive, in fact, way more competitive in Matt Rhule’s first season than their 5-7 record indicates.
“(If) they get a little bit better quarterback play and namely just protecting the football and they’re going to be much better. He’s a builder.”
