A rising star: Wolves set to hold onto one of their biggest talents despite interest from Chelsea

Wolves are set to hold onto one of their most talented youngsters despite Chelsea pursuing the rising Molineux star.

The Wolves academy has always been important to the club. Over the years, there’ve been plenty of players who have come through to become regular first-teamers.

While this has happened less since Wolves’ promotion to the Premier League, recently, the club’s youth has impressed.

This has led to many stars being pursued by top clubs as they look to secure the next generation of talent. One such player is Wesley Okoduwa, whose future has now been settled after weeks of speculation.

Throughout the club’s injury crisis in 2024, one of the few positives was the Wolves’ academy. It became clear that many of their upcoming youngsters had the potential to one day be first-teamers.

Nathan Fraser was the clear stand-out while Tawanda Chirewa and Leon Chiwome also showed promise. However, another youngster with big potential is Okoduwa.

The 16-year-old almost became the club’s youngster player last season after the right-back was named on the bench numerous times when he was 15 years old.

This summer, other clubs caught onto this potential and it was reported that Chelsea were chasing Okoduwa’s signature.

However, Secret Scout now believes that he is set to stay at the club. They reported that talks have now ended between Wolves and Chelsea, and Okoduwa will now sign a scholarship.

Wolves deserve credit for holding onto a future star

While Wolves have been excellent in the transfer market so far, managing to keep hold of Okoduwa could prove to be their most fruitful business this summer.

It is clear that the right-back has plenty of potential and Gary O’Neil will believe he can unlock it given he is already in and around the first team.

Okoduwa could easily go on to become a vital player in the Wolves squad or potentially be sold on for big money.

If Wolves want to remain a force in the Premier League, they must keep hold of their young talent, and by keeping Okoduwa they are going in the right direction.
