Report: Major club have now pulled out of the race to sign Newcastle star, they think he's too expensive

Newcastle United refuse to be bullied in the transfer market.

Indeed, despite all the money PIF have on offer (at least in theory – given the FFP balancing act modern football requires), Newcastle aren’t willing to be held to ransom.

They have previously pulled out of deals for the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Jesse Lingard when they became too expensive. Even despite Dominic Calvert-Lewin being a long-standing target under Eddie Howe, his price tag is deemed too expensive and the deal now looks off.

Manchester United, meanwhile, continue to see first hand just how hard Newcastle can be in negotiations as they attempt to appoint Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director.

So then, any club looking to buy a player Newcastle categorically do not want to sell were always going to have it hard.

Take Chelsea and Alexander Isak, for example.

Chelsea have now made a big decision about Newcastle star Alexander Isak

The Blues had been linked with a move for the 24-year-old, albeit decision-makers at St James’ Park did not believe they could afford the striker.

Now, according to The Sun, Chelsea have pulled out of their attempts to sign Isak.

Newcastle reportedly wouldn’t even consider bids below £100m and there was a doubt Chelsea would be able to afford Isak’s wages at this stage.

Newcastle think they’ve done enough to convince Alexander Isak to stay

It seems there is fresh hope that Isak will soon sign a new contract with Newcastle.

The Sweden international is understood to have looked for assurances that the club matched his ambitions in getting back into the Champions League, and it appears as if he’s happy with what he’s heard.

Howe wants to build the team around him for years to come, so it all makes for pretty positive reading for Newcastle fans.
