Report: Chelsea offer Leicester City three players as Maresca eyes Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall reunion

Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is being strongly linked with a move to Chelsea this summer.

New Leicester City boss Steve Cooper made it very clear in the opening days that midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was crucial to his plans after talking with him at training.

The 25-year-old contributed massively to the Foxes’ Championship winning 2023/24 campaign under Enzo Maresca, who has now taken the top role at Chelsea.

Dewsbury-Hall managed an incredible 26 goal contributions from midfield last season, making him the club’s second top scorer of the 2023/24 campaign behind talisman Jamie Vardy.

Reconnecting with the Italian manager is a priority for Dewsbury-Hall, who turned down an offer from Brighton in order to pursue a move to the London giants.

Chelsea are very keen on the midfielder and are doing everything in their power to tempt Leicester City into accepting a deal, including offering three separate players in return for Dewsbury-Hall.

Chelsea offer former Leicester City loanee Cesare Casadei in trade for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Chelsea are looking to strike a swap deal with newly-promoted Leicester City, with former Foxes loanee Cesare Casadei amongst the names suggested, per The Daily Telegraph.

The Italian midfielder spent the first half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Leicester City, before he was recalled to Chelsea.

The other possible names that have reportedly been raised by Chelsea include striker Armando Broja and David Datro Fofana.

Broja spent the second half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Premier League side Fulham, however struggled after being unable to convert a goal in his short spell.

Fofana also endured the latter stages of his 2023/24 campaign on loan at a fellow Premier League team where he suffered relegation with Burnley, scoring four goals during his stint at Turf Moor.

Return of Cesare Casadei could soften blow of Leicester City losing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall

Of the three players offered to Leicester City in return for star player Dewsbury-Hall, the Foxes will undoubtedly be most interested in seeing Casadei return to the King Power Stadium.

The 21-year-old was recalled by Chelsea in January, however went on to play very little part in the Premier League, playing just 71 minutes across 11 substitute appearances.

Although used more often from off the bench for Leicester City during his six month spell at the King Power, Casadei could slot in at centre midfield to replace the departing Dewsbury-Hall.

Although a midfield including Casadei alongside Wilfred Ndidi and Harry Winks doesn’t quite have the firepower of last season, it could offer an extra defensive and resolute edge to the centre of the park, something that they will need in the Premier League.

Cooper could utilise the Italian as part of a more defensive-minded midfield that may not be pretty, but could be crucial in the upcoming season when grinding out results.
