Rangers door opens in striker chase after signing announcement

Rangers search for more firepower in the forward has stalled this week as Philippe Clement looks to build a successful team for next season.

There is still no sign of Hamza Igamane despite reports suggesting that his arrival was imminent, however, there might be progress on another.

Kosovo international Albion Rrahmani looks like he could be the jewel of the summer if Rangers can persuade him to sign and that job could have just been made easier.

Rapid Bucharest sign striker to free up Albion Rrahmani

There is space on the wage bill and in the squad with the departure of Kemar Roofe but the 23-year old won’t come cheap.

Romanian journalist Emanuel Rosu told Rangers News that a £5m fee is what Rapid Bucharest is looking for which could mean that Koppen has to bring money in too.

Cyriel Dessers has handed in a transfer request according to the Greek media with PAOK Salonika interested and clubs from Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy also keeping tabs.

Rapid’s owner Dan Sucu was far from happy recently when he responded to speculation surrounding his star man, giving the attended press the short shrift when asked if the rumours were true:

“Are there concrete offers for Albion Rrahmani? Any chance he’ll leave? Have you priced it? I would like to do it differently, if possible.

“Let’s bet where all that information will be found, if it will be confirmed and if it will be relevant, directly from the Rapid website! And you will find that out there and not from other sources.

“We live in a competitive climate, that is true.

“But information about your decisions, ideas and intentions should remain, as much as possible, within the club.

“If there is a competitor who would like to learn our information or buy our players they will have to know it from us and not other sources.”

Has door opened for Rangers to sign Rrahmani?

There has though, been a twist in the tale.

Clubs tend to not want to let their best players go until they have secured a replacement and it looks like Rapid have done just that.

Slovakian Under-21 forward Timotej Jambor has been signed from MSK Zilina for £600,000 could open the door for Rrahmani to leave.

The 6ft 2 inch hitman arrived in a similar deal last summer and it looks like he could be about to make Rapid a hefty profit.

Hopefully the door has been opened for Rangers to make the sort of signing that should have been made last summer.
