Report: PL midfielder would now be open to joining Leeds United this summer

Leeds United have been handed a boost in the pursuit of a potential target with a report suggesting he would be open to joining the club.

Things seem to be slowly but surely heating up behind-the-scenes at Elland Road with the June 30 financial deadline edging ever closer.

Jack Harrison and Marc Roca completed their exits from Leeds earlier this week, while Jamie Shackleton and Charlie Cresswell are expected to follow soon.

Speculation surrounding Archie Gray has also intensified massively in recent days, and with Leeds in need of at least one big sale, he seems the most likely at this stage to be on the move.

Those deals could finally open up the possibility of Leeds being able to enter the market themselves, with work to be done on a few positions this summer.

Report shares Oliver Skipp’s stance on a move to Leeds

As per a report from Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds are casting a keen eye on each other’s squads with a view to doing business.

Angus Kinnear is said to have a good relationship with Spurs owner Daniel Levy, while technical director Gretar Steinsson was in North London before taking his current role at Leeds. Those two both helped facilitate the arrivals of Joe Rodon and Djed Spence last summer.

The article states that Spurs are one of the sides who currently hold a strong interest in signing Gray, while there have also been tenuous links with Crysencio Summerville and Willy Gnonto.

However, at the same time, Leeds are also looking at a couple of members of the Spurs squad, none more so than a potential deal for Rodon.

Midfielder Oliver Skipp is someone Leeds are interested in too, either on loan or permanently depending on Leeds’ budget.

In good news for Leeds, it is said Skipp would be open to a move to Elland Road this summer despite the drop into the Championship due to the lure of working under Daniel Farke.

Farke had him on loan at Norwich City during his second Championship title winning campaign, though Leeds could face competition from Premier League clubs if he was available.

What has Skipp said about Farke in the past?

It is quite clear just how highly Farke rates Skipp, given that Leeds were also linked with him last summer, too. Speaking about him at Norwich, he labelled him as a ‘top player’.

But the feeling is certainly mutual, with Skipp having previously showed his gratitude towards the work of Farke in making him the player he is today.

He said: “It was a crucial time for me in terms of getting regular games. You go out on loan with the hope that you’ll be able to play a significant number of matches, but I didn’t go to Norwich with the feeling that I’d play 45 of the 46 games and that the season would go as well as it did.

“I’m so grateful to [Daniel Farke] and all the players, they all helped me settle in so easily, and then helped to create the player that you see today.”
