Report: Leicester City rivalling Bundesliga duo for international midfielder amid Dewsbury-Hall exit fears

Leicester City are already preparing for life without Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall amidst Chelsea links.

Steve Cooper made it a priority to keep hold of Leicester City midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall after talking with the 25-year-old in the first few days in the management seat.

However, the English midfielder has his heart set on a reunion with former Foxes manager Enzo Maresca, who has since taken over at Chelsea following his successful 2023/24 season winning the Championship with Leicester City.

Dewsbury-Hall achieved an impressive 26 goal contributions under Maresca, who seemingly thinks that the midfielder will be able to replicate his hot form in the Premier League with the London giants.

Leicester City have been offered various swap deals by Chelsea, including former Leicester City midfielder Cesare Casadei who spent the start of the 2023/24 campaign on loan at the King Power Stadium.

As a result of the ongoing transfer saga, Leicester City have decided to explore their options by looking abroad.

Leicester City interested in Hakim Sahabo as potential Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall replacement

The likely exit of Dewsbury-Hall has led Cooper to search for alternatives, with Rwandan international midfielder Hakim Sahabo piquing his interest.

Standard Liege’s Sahabo is currently being monitored by Leicester City, alongside Bundesliga clubs Frankfurt and Hoffenheim, according to L’avenir.

The Foxes have reportedly held talks with Standard Liege, however no offer has been made yet for the 19-year-old given a £4.2million price tag.

The midfielder broke into the Standard Liege lineup in the back end of the season after impressing in the youth setup, tallying 18 appearances across the league, of which he started 11.

What would Hakim Sahabo offer to Leicester City

After impressing in Belgium’s second tier, the Challenger Pro League, Sahabo burst into the Standard Liege lineup where he became a consistent in the defensive midfield position, despite playing slightly further forward prior to his first team opportunities.

His time this season with the youth set up saw him tally two assists in 14 games.

The Rwandan international, who has six caps to his name, will most likely be one for the future, as his role fits the Harry Winks blend slightly more as opposed to being a direct replacement for the departing Dewsbury-Hall.

Although his first team league career doesn’t span past half a season in Belgium, Sahabo has had varied experiences in friendlies where he has played the likes of Borussia Dortmund.

The limited experience, yet clear potential of the Rwandan shows this up as one for the future, or potentially to gain few minutes off the bench, Leicester certainly won’t be stopping in their pursuit for a Dewsbury-Hall replacement.
