Pundit thinks Crystal Palace already own the "best" player money can buy this summer

Crystal Palace is a hotbed for talent right now and despite the expected departure of Michael Olise, the club still possesses a gem.

The final few months of the Premier League season saw Crystal Palace steal all the headlines thanks to the breathtaking form under Oliver Glasner.

Notable wins included a 4-0 battering of Manchester United at Selhurst Park, which announced the Eagles to the league as a new force to be reckoned with.

However, with star players, there was always a chance they’d end up being sold as richer clubs entered the race.

Despite possibly losing Michael Olise, Palace have been told they still own arguably the best player money could buy this summer.

Pat Nevin thinks Ebere Eze is the best possible bit of business this summer

Eze’s future is far from decided this summer, and now speaking on the BBC’s Euro 2024 round of 16 preview, pundit Pat Nevin lauded Ebere Eze and explained why he is the best possible signing this summer for any club.

“I don’t think there is a better player that people can buy than Eze. I think he is the best in the business there is just right now.

“I don’t think anyone has actually got more skills than him in that sort of area. He has not had an opportunity yet.”

Eze has been incredible for Crystal Palace, particularly under Glasner so really it’s not a shock to see him praised so heavily.

Palace will count themselves lucky that they have Eze although it’s both a blessing and a curse considering he will undoubtedly be a target for many clubs over the next few months.

Other clubs likely view signing Eze as good business too

While it’s all well and good for Palace to have the best player money can buy, it won’t do much good if clubs arrive with their interest in signing him.

This is especially true as according to HITC, Eze isn’t happy about the departure of Olise this summer as he believes the club should’ve kept him for next season under Glasner.

Palace didn’t really have a choice though considering the release clause, and now with Liverpool and Spurs two of the clubs keen on Eze, the Eagles could once again be left with no choice.

The Eagles will want to keep Eze, but similarly to Olise, his price tag and release clause are probably too good of a deal for clubs to ignore and so it could be tricky.

That being said, even if Eze and Olise go, Marc Guehi could end up staying with no clubs keen to pay his £60m price tag and even then, there is no release clause in play.
