Five bargains Crystal Palace could land for stars out of contract in 2025 including Man United ace - opinion

The summer transfer market could see Crystal Palace land some bargain signings for the campaign ahead.

Oliver Glasner is looking to bolster the options available to him in the squad following a strong end to the previous Premier League season.

With the Crystal Palace boss showing a taste of what could follow in his first full season in charge, there’s plenty of excitement at Selhurst Park.

This summer could usher in change, with exits for key stars as well as signings that suit Glasner’s system going forward.

However, there may also be a chance to bag a bargain in the market, so with that said here’s a look at some options for Crystal Palace out of the players entering the final year of their contract.

Maxence Lacroix

One player who is entering the final 12 months of his contract this summer is Maxence Lacroix of Wolfsburg.

The 24-year-old has been a regular in the Bundesliga since making the move from FC Sochaux in 2020.

Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for Lacroix, who previously worked under Glasner in his time at Wolfsburg.

The Frenchman is right-footed but can play either centre-back role, while his pace is a key attribute to his skillset.

Rayan Cherki

A promising youngster, Rayan Cherki is an option that has long been touted with making a switch to the Premier League.

The 20-year-old plays for fellow Eagle Group side Olympique Lyon, which may make any deal easier to conduct.

Cherki is a versatile forward who can play on either flank as well as behind the striker, with his main skillset surrounding his high-quality dribbling ability.

With Olise set to join Bayern Munich this summer, it would be a statement of intent to land the French youth international.

Angel Gomes

Another star entering the final year of his contract is LOSC Lille midfielder Angel Gomes – who could be another signing for the current team and the future.

The 23-year-old made his way through the Manchester United academy before moving to France, which has seen him receive important game time.

Vital performances for the England youth international team have shown Gomes to be a key player who can step up to the top level.

At times, the midfielder can knit the play together while others will see him at his creative best to play the role of playmaker for the team.

Roland Sallai

Anyone who has watched Hungary at Euro 2024 will be able to describe the chaos that was created by Roland Sallai when in possession of the ball.

The 27-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract at SC Freiburg, which could offer a chance at a bargain deal.

Sallai can play on either flank as well as the number ten role, with his pace and quick feet making it tough for defenders to keep up with him.

The Hungarian international is comfortable using both feet, allowing him to beat defenders inside and out on several occasions.

Amad Diallo

The final potential bargain Crystal Palace could look at signing is Manchester United youngster Amad Diallo.

The Red Devils shelled out £19million to land the forward in 2021 from Atalanta – with add-ons potentially taking that fee up to £37million.

In that time, the 21-year-old has shown signs of promise and ability but is rarely given the opportunity to shine in the Premier League.

A move to Selhurst Park could see him turned from a gem into a superstar, with his ability to cut-in from the right wing with his left foot.

United do have a one-year optional extension in Diallo’s deal that could complicate any chance of a bargain, should it be triggered.

If not, it may be a deal that would go under the radar, but a potential bargain overall that could work out for Palace.
