Incoming Man City player recently showed why Pep Guardiola should be very excited about him - opinion

One player who is reportedly set to join Manchester City this summer has recently shown why he could be a very exciting player for Pep Guardiola.

Over the past few transfer windows, the Manchester club have shown that they aren’t shy when it comes to securing deals for young players from foreign clubs.

Names such as Julian Alvarez, Jeremy Doku and Josko Gvardiol have all made moves to the Etihad Stadium in recent memory despite only being in their early twenties.

Now though, another young player, who will reportedly be joining the City squad over the coming weeks, has delivered an eye-catching performance for his country, showing why he could be an exciting addition to Guardiola’s squad.

Savio drops positive performance for Brazil in latest Copa America game

In Brazil’s recent 4-1 win over Paraguay in the Copa America, Savio, who Fabrizio Romano claimed on his X account back in February City had agreed a deal to sign, started and completed 72 minutes before being replaced by Raphinha.

During his time on the pitch, the winger scored his first senior goal for Brazil in the 43rd minute to double his side’s lead after Vinicius Junior opened the scoring just eight minutes earlier.

In addition to that, Savio accurately completed all 18 passes he attempted and even made two tackles, showcasing how effective he can be on the ball as well as on it.

This display ultimately earned the 20-year-old an overall match rating of 7/10 from SofaScore, which is a higher rating than the likes of Rodrygo (6.7/10) and Bruno Guimaraes (6.9/10) were given.

Savio could be an exciting player for City

Taking that into account, in addition to the fact that the Brazilian scored nine goals and provided 10 assists in 37 La Liga appearances with Girona last season, it’s clear that despite his young age, Savio is a very capable attacker.

In addition to his goals and assists in Spain last season, the winger also ended the campaign with the highest total of carries into the penalty box (80), goal-creating actions (25) and successful take-ons (104) in the Girona squad.

Now that the youngster has established himself as a goalscoring threat for Brazil, we feel that Guardiola should be very excited by the prospect of having Savio in his City squad next season.
