Prince Harry needs to 'watch out' as 'scary' William will 'rule with an iron rod'

Prince William is expected to be a ‘tough’ monarch when it’s his time to rule, an insider has claimed, and it could have consequences for his brother Harry.

The heir to the British throne will become the role of enforcer when he takes the big seat, a source has said, and it could be trouble for Prince Harry. Prince William‘s difficult relationship with his younger sibling is no surprise, with the Duke of Sussex talking about it multiple times throughout the years. From spilling the beans with Oprah Winfrey to writing previously-guarded secrets in his bestselling memoir Spare, Harry hasn’t exactly kept a lid on it. But this could come back to bite him, when William becomes King.

A source has said: “There is a sense that William has stepped into the Prince Philip role. Philip ruled the family with a rod of iron and you saw when he died that discipline collapsed.

“Now William is calling the shots when it comes to family discipline. He can be scary!”

They told The Daily Beast while William will be an ‘enforcer’ he will consider an ‘absolute ban on Harry returning’ to The Firm in any way.

Despite King Charles trying to keep bonds strong with his youngest born, it’s been reported William won’t have much of a problem with the new boundaries as they ‘rarely’ speak to each other.

The insider added that it “tells you everything you need to know about who is really in charge.”

Therefore, when the 42-year-old gets the crown, it’s unlikely he’ll let the burnt bridges thaw out, and instead forget they were even there.

The Duke of Sussex moved to California with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020, and have settled down with their family over the past four years. After taking little Prince Archie with them, they then welcomed their second child, Princess Lilibet in 2021.

Signs of a troubled relationship

The cracks began to show before Harry and Meghan left The Firm four years ago. During their tour in Africa as a married couple, the 39-year-old said the two were on ‘different’ paths but would still be there for one another.

After they announced they were leaving, William emotionally confessed he had always had his arm around his brother but couldn’t do that anymore, a friend and source explained. It’s just one of the many heartbreaking things that William has said about Harry since growing up.

The dad-of-two told Oprah his brother was ‘trapped’ in royal life, much like their father, with no way out. He later alleged the 42-year-old pushed him to the ground when they got into a bitter argument about Meghan. However, Wills has never responded to this claim, nor have the Palace about any claim in Harry’s memoir.

The data adds up, even if William won’t play the role of strict enforcer, it doesn’t look good for the feuding brothers.
