An Iowa woman faces charges after allegedly calling the police to fabricate an emergency in order to ditch a date she met online.
According to reports, 18-year-old Sumaya Thomas contacted emergency services on June 16th, claiming her abusive ex-boyfriend was threatening her and outside her home.
Responding officers found the man on the doorstep, confused by the accusations.

Investigation Reveals Fabricated Story
Following separate interviews with both Thomas and the man, the story unraveled. The man presented officers with text message conversations revealing they had met on a dating app and arranged the in-person meeting.
A deeper investigation confirmed the messages originated from Thomas' phone. Confronted with the evidence, Thomas admitted she "got cold feet" and fabricated the story to avoid the date.
Sumaya Thomas was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors: False Reporting of Indictable Offense to Public Entity and False Report - 911 call.

While "ghosting" a date might be an unpleasant but unfortunately common experience, resorting to fabricating threats is a serious offense with legal consequences.
