Liverpool set to offer ‘world-class’ player alongside £50m bid for Anthony Gordon

Liverpool would certainly turn a lot of heads if they snapped up Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.

The player himself would also find his way into plenty of headlines, having previously lined out for Everton.

The winger spent several years across Stanley Park with the Toffees, before sealing a big-money move to the Magpies in 2023.

That spell could, however, already be coming to an end, seemingly largely because of Newcastle’s issues with PSR.

Gordon is keen on a move to Anfield, but thus far he remains with Newcastle, with his current focus on shining for England.

At the same time, however, the 23-year-old forward will want to have his club future sorted out as soon as possible.

An update on any potential deal has now emerged, with TEAMtalk reporting that Liverpool will offer Caoimhin Kelleher plus £50million to bring Gordon to Anfield.

Will Liverpool go through with a Caoimhin Kelleher swap deal?

Kelleher has enjoyed a lengthy spell at Liverpool, with the goalkeeper shining brightly more often than not when called upon.

He drew huge praise from captain Virgil van Dijk earlier this season, with the centre-back labelling his teammate ‘world-class’.

But unfortunately the Republic of Ireland international’s time on the pitch has been very limited due to the presence of Alisson.

Kelleher has largely only played when the Brazilian has been injured or when he needed a rest, with that situation not going to change anytime soon.

That may just force the deputy to move on this summer, with Kelleher certain to get more playing time at Newcastle.

Losing him and forking out £50million is, however, a big risk from Liverpool, with Gordon still having plenty to prove.
