Report: Newcastle now want Steve Cooper dud included in £35m Nottingham Forest deal, medical booked

Things are heating up on the transfer front with Nottingham Forest and Newcastle aiding each other on the PSR front.

Clubs have to adhere to financial fair play in this day and age and the latest cycle for losses ends today.

As a result, both Newcastle and Forest are trying to do business to ensure they meet the requirements and satisfy the Premier League.

It would appear as though Elliot Anderson is now in the Midlands ahead of a £35 million move to Forest.

The youngster enjoyed a decent season under Eddie Howe last term and he’s swapping the Magpies for the Tricky Trees.

Given that Forest are helping Newcastle meet the PSR requirements, it’s now emerged that a Reds player is going to head in the opposite direction.

Newcastle want Nottingham Forest player in Elliot Anderson deal

This looks like a perfect case of two clubs helping each other out to stick two fingers up to the Premier League and their PSR requirements.

Now, it’s being claimed by Daily Mail journalist Sami Mokbel that Newcastle want Odysseas Vlachodimos as part of the Anderson deal.

The goalkeeper arrived at Forest from Benfica last summer but he made just six appearances for the Reds.

Vlachodimos didn’t do a great deal wrong during his appearances but at the same time, he didn’t really stamp his authority on the team either.

Matz Sels finished the season as the number one goalkeeper, whilst Carlos Miguel is set to check in from Corinthians too.

That’s going to leave Vlachodimos down the pecking order and now a move to Newcastle looks likely.

It’s been claimed since the news broke from Mokbel that a medical has been booked for the Greek performer later on today.

Forest are hitting the jackpot with this deal

It will be fascinating to see how much Newcastle agree to pay for Vlachodimos but this does feel like a good deal for Forest.

The Reds are getting one of Newcastle’s most talented players, whilst in return Forest are getting rid of a player who has no future at the club.

Vlachodimos has done a professional job since arriving but at third choice in the pecking order, it makes perfect sense to offload him.

Hopefully, Forest will be getting a strong fee for the Greece international and that can help them comply with PSR.

This does feel like a transfer scenario that will benefit Forest far more than it does Newcastle and that can only be a good thing.

Vlachodimos is likely to play second fiddle to Nick Pop at Newcastle but he could get opportunities to play in the cup competitions.

As for Anderson, he will compete with a number of Forest midfielders and it will be interesting to see how he develops in years to come.
