'We are looking forward': Ross Wilson reacts as Nottingham Forest sign player they have 'tracked'

Nottingham Forest added Erik da Silva Moreira to their ranks yesterday and Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson has now reacted.

The Reds fought off a host of competition to sign the versatile youngster who has won the under-17 World Cup with Germany.

Moreira looks likely to start life at Forest with the B-Team given that he’s only made one senior appearance during his career to date.

However, he does feel like a decent signing in terms of profile and potential.

After he pulled into the City Ground car park to sign on the dotted line, Wilson made some comments to the club about the latest arrival.

This does feel like a nice signing made by Forest with Moreira coming from St Pauli who does have a good reputation with their academy.

Hopefully, he can quickly get settled at the club and adapt to his new surroundings.

Wilson is pretty satisfied with the signing of the new youngster and had some words of encouragement after the deal was struck.

He told the club’s official website: “We have a number of exciting young players in our squad already and we are pleased that Eric is another young player with high potential who we are excited to add to our ranks.

“We have tracked his progress at both club and international level, and we are looking forward to his continued progression here with us.”

Moreira will be first-team squad member by the end of the season

This is our prediction and we’re sticking by it!

Moreira just feels like he ticks a lot of boxes and given that he’s a Germany youth international, he’s clearly excelling when it comes to that level of football.

With that in mind, we just feel that Moreira will make the step up no problem and after half a season with the B-Team, Nuno Espirito Santo might take a look at him.

Given that he’s versatile enough to play in a number of positions he could be perfect for the first-team squad.

With limited numbers allowed in a Premier League squad, Moreira could find himself taking centre stage at Forest during the 2024/25 campaign.

He will need to earn his stripes first but we fancy him to do it with aplomb.
