'Strong interest': Premier League giants now 'set to decide' future of Sheffield Wednesday target - Alan Nixon

Sheffield Wednesday are currently deep into their search for new attackers this summer.

The Owls had already bolstered their backline with the additions of Yan Valery and Max Lowe.

The club are likely to bring in new midfielders aftersnapping up Svante Ingelsson from Hansa Rostock, while Ben Hamer has also come into act as back-up to their future first choice goalkeeper.

Sheffield Wednesday are also closing in on the free transfer signing of Jamal Lowe, who has 39 goals and 12 assists in 186 appearances in the Championship.

The forward’s versatility means he can play anywhere in attack, but he has played on the right wing for a majority of his career.

With both Ike Ugbo and Ian Poveda leaving Hillsborough after their loan spells, Wednesday could look to play Lowe all across the front three.

Arsenal set to make a decision on Mika Biereth

They still look to be on the hunt for a new No.9 though, having beenlinked with Arsenal’s Mika Biereth since January.

The striker ended up joining Sturm Graz in the winter transfer window, but could be available once again this summer after netting 15 goals and providing nine assists last term.

Sturm Graz are reportedly eager to re-sign him, while the Owls have reignited their interest in the striker.

Biereth’s future is yet to be determined, however journalist Alan Nixon has now reported the Gunners are set to make a decision on his next move.

Writing on his Patreon, Nixon said: “Arsenal are also set to decide on young Danish striker Mika Biereth who has been on loan at Sturm Graz in Austria.

“There has been strong interest in the Championship among clubs who would buy him as well as take him for the season.”

Sheffield Wednesday would have to pay seven figures to sign him

Biereth only has a year left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium, so it wouldn’t be surprising if they preferred to cash in instead of losing him for free next summer.

It has been reported that the Premier League giants could demand around £6 million for the 21-year-old though, which would surely force Wednesday out of the race.

The Owls are already competing with Champions League football at Sturm Graz, so signing him this summer would be a huge ask.

Wednesday will undoubtedly have to go all out if they are to sign a proven goalscorer given the high demand for them, but they could prefer to go down the loan route.

Signing Biereth on loan would be ideal forDanny Rohl’s side, but if Arsenal opt to sell him then they may have to look elsewhere.
