Tottenham still in the race to sign ‘electric’ winger who Barcelona have made bid for

Tottenham Hotspur seem to be making moves in the transfer market after a fairly quiet start to the summer window.

Spurs have opened talks with Leeds United over a move for Archie Gray after the youngster’s move to Brentford appears to have fallen through.

The 18-year-old has rejected a move to the Gtech Community Stadium and is leaning towards a switch to Tottenham, according to The Athletic.

Should Spurs complete a move for Gray, the youngster would tick plenty of boxes for Ange Postecoglou due to his ability to play at right-back, as well as various roles in midfield.

But the Aussie boss is still searching for attacking reinforcements and TEAMtalk reports that Spurs remain in the race to sign another Championship star.

Tottenham remain in the race to sign Jaden Philogene

Barcelona have reportedly launched an attempt to land Hull City’s Jaden Philogene, a player who has been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The La Liga giants are trying to land Philogene on a season-long loan deal with an obligation to buy the player next summer.

Yet, TEAMtalk claims that Premier League clubs Tottenham and Everton cannot be ruled out of the race just yet.

Due to Barca’s financial issues, they are attempting to land the 22-year-old in a temporary basis but Hull are keen to receive instant cash.

It’s claimed that the Tigers value Philogene at around £16 million after snapping him up from Aston Villa for just £6.8 million last summer.

Spurs stepping up transfer plans

With Gray seemingly nearing a switch to Spurs, Postecoglou’s side seem to be ramping up their plans for the summer.

The club are also weighing up an improved offer for Jacob Ramsey after Aston Villa reportedly knocked back an opening bid.

Philogene impressed in the Championship last season and his ability to play off either side would provide Spurs with real depth in the wide areas.

The ‘electric’ winger scored 12 times and provided six assists for Hull in England’s second tier last season.

Whether or not he would come in and improve Tottenham’s starting XI is up for debate. It’s no secret that Spurs need extra quality out wide and bringing in Philogene wouldn’t exactly guarantee such improvements for Postecoglou.
