Chelsea starlet key to unlocking swoop for Leicester's Kieran Dewsbury-Hall

Leicester City insisted that they would not allow Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall join Chelsea unless they received a player in return.

HITC revealed earlier this week that Dewsbury-Hall had told Leicester that he wanted to join Chelsea and would not look at other offers, with the likes of Brighton also showing an interest in landing him.

However, whilst open to the deal – Leicester insisted on getting more than just money and the two clubs held extensive talks on the options.

Michael Golding set for Leicester as Kieran Dewsbury-Hall heads to Chelsea

HITC can reveal that Italian midfielder Cesare Casadei, who had a loan spell at Leicester season, was one spoken about but the player was not convinced, whilst Chelsea also discussed potential loan options to The Foxes including the likes of Lesley Ugochukwu, Carney Chukwuemeka and Andrey Santos.

However, Leicester wanted something more long-term and that led them to Michael Golding – a player very highly though of at Stamford Bridge, but the hierarchy sanctioned the deal after the teenage midfielder gave his approval to the move.

Golding was handed his first-team debut by then Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino in January during their FA Cup win over Preston North End.

Dewsbury-Hall and Golding terms agreed ahead of medicals

Dewsbury-Hall has agreed terms with Chelsea and is having his medical on Sunday, and Golding is due for his in the Midlands.

Chelsea are paying £30m and also sending Golding to Leicester but technically it will be a separate deal to fit in better with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Other clubs including Brighton were on Dewsbury-Hall but as we revealed earlier this week Dewsbury-Hall informed Leicester of his wish to join Chelsea.

Dewsbury-Hall will become Chelsea’s fourth summer capture as they have already agreed moves for Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman and Marc Guiu.

Golding is the latest homegrown product to head out of the doors at Stamford Bridge following Ian Maatsen and Omari Hutchinson, whilst Lewis Hall completed a permanent move to Newcastle.
