Paul Finebaum claims Arch Manning will be Texas’ starting quarterback by end of season

Texas is currently enjoying a massive gathering on The 40 Acres to celebrate their introduction into the SEC. However, with Paul Finebaum himself down in Austin, he made a major statement regarding the Longhorns’ quarterback spot for this upcoming season.

Tyler Feldman of KVUE News asked Finebaum about who he thought Texas’ starting quarterback would be by the end of this year. His response was a massive one as he went with Arch Manning over Quinn Ewers.

“That would be Arch Manning. I don’t need to tiptoe around that,” Finebaum stated. “That is guaranteed. You heard it.”

Finebaum then even took it a step further in regards to Manning. He thinks that he will be taking snaps in games throughout the year before eventually taking the starting job.

“We may even see him a little bit throughout the season,” added Finebaum.

Now, to be fair, this response depends on how Finebaum interpreted that question. He may very well think that Manning wins out at quarterback over the course of the season. However, with Ewers likely to enter his name in the 2025 NFL Draft, he could mean that Manning will be his successor for next fall after seeing more opportunities as a backup as a redshirt freshman.

Either way, this would be a huge development down in Austin in 2024.
